PISTOL
SILHOUETTE COMPETITION For those of you new to the discipline, silhouette shooting
is a slow fire (five shots in two minutes) and variable distance pistol
competition. Although the three other ranges in Indiana that sponsor
IHMSA silhouette matches include big bore and field pistol calibers,
safety considerations at MCF&G limit our silhouette matches to .22
only. Targets are variable-sized metallic silhouettes, placed in groups
of ten at distances of 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. Competitors are
stratified by skill, so even the newest shooter can be competitive in
class from their first match. Competition is also classified by type of
gun (production single shot or automatic, revolver and
"unlimited"), iron or glass sights, and shooting position
(prone-Creedmoor or standing). Almost any .22 pistol is enough equipment
